The Great Irulappa Swamy |
The Great Irulappa Swamy Temple needs a separate mention. Apart from the Kula Deivam of Ilayarasanendal rulers, he is the Kula Deivam of many cutting across various communities / castes in Southern districts of Tamilnadu - Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tuticorin and Tirunelveli. One can find his abodes in Srivillipuththur, Elayirampannai, Krishnapaerai, Eruchanaththam, Vilampatti, Keelarajakularaman, Vagaikulam, Idaiseval, Paeraiyur, Alathoor, Koovachipatti, Melaneelithanallur, Kayaththar – these are only a few.
He is worshipped as Kuladeivam by Tamils and Telugus of the Carnatic region, Carnatic is
the region of South India lying between the Eastern Ghats and the Coromandel Coast, in the states of Tamil Nadu,
south eastern Karnataka,
north eastern Kerala and southern Andhra Pradesh. He has originated in a fierce
guardian figure to defeat / kill the enemies. He is worshipped by
Rulers, Zamindars – such is his power.
Ilayarasanendal Irulappa Swamy Temple belongs to Kamma Naidu community. His temple is in South West Corner of Ilayarasanendal, so that he can lead his Kul well under the control with good decision making power. The temple is big, however with simple structure without Gopurams etc. He has Karuppa Swamy for his Kaval.

These attributes needs to be reinstated, by visiting
his temple atleast once in a year; before your marriage; before constructing a house; with
your parents; with your children; with your brothers. You go with your problem,
you will get a solution. Offer him Sweet Pongal. Ilayarasanendal Irulappa Swamy is believed to be a vegetarian. His padayal consists of all sorts of seasonal fruits, like Mango, Jackfruit, Bananas, guava alongwith Sweet Pongal and Tender Coconut Water. If you wish to offer "Kada virundhu" it is only to his Kaval Karuppa Swamy. Important Date - Masi Maha Shiv Ratri.

ReplyDelete#Keerthi, Good to know that Irulappa Swamy is your Kula Deivam. You ask your parents about your ancestral village and worship his picture in your puja room. Whenever you come to India, you visit your village and the temple.
ReplyDelete#Irulappa Swamy and Karuppar are not same. Karuppa Swamy is Kaval Deivam of Irulappa Swamy.
#Irulappa Swamy is Son of Angala Parameswari. Head tonsuring of female children are performed on her temple. You may worship Angala Parameswari also. Kula Devi fulfill the wishes faster.

காளிதேவியே அங்காளம்மனாகப் பிறந்தாள். "அங்காளம்' என்ற சொல்லுக்கு "இணைதல்' என்று பொருள். வல்லாள கண்டன் என்ற அசுரன் கடும் தவம் செய்து சிவதரிசனம் பெற்றான். பிறவியை முடித்த ஒருவரால் தான் தனக்கு அழிவு வர வேண்டும். எந்த ஆயுதத்தாலும் தன்னை அழிக்க முடியாது என்று வரம் பெற்றான். இதனால் தன்னை யாராலும் அழிக்க முடியாது என்ற ஆணவத்தில் தேவர்களை துன்பப்படுத்தினான். அழியாவரம் பெற்ற அவன் 108 பெண்களை மணந்தாலும் குழந்தை வரம் மட்டும் கிடைக்கவில்லை.குழந்தையில்லாத அவன் மேலும் நெறி கெட்டு திரிந்தான். வல்லாளகண்டனின் கொடுமைக்கு முடிவு கட்ட சிவன் முடிவெடுத்தார். பார்வதி தேவியை அழைத்து, நீ மீனாட்சி, காமாட்சி, விசாலாட்சி, காந்திமதி, மாரியம்மன், காளியாகவும் ஆறு பிறவிகள் எடு. ஏழாவது பிறவி பற்றி நான் பிறகு சொல்வேன் என்றார். அதன்படி அன்னை பார்வதி ஆறு பிறவிகள் எடுத்து மக்களுக்கு அருள்பாலித்தாள். காளியாக உருவெடுத்த போது, சிவனையும் மிஞ்சிய சக்தியாக எண்ணி, அவரை நடனப்போட்டிக்கு அழைத்தாள். அந்த போட்டியில் தோல்வி அடைந்தாள். வெட்கம் தாளாமல் தன்னையே எரித்து கொண்டாள்.அவளது அங்கம் வெந்தது. அங்கம் என்றால் உடல். சாம்பலான காளியை மீண்டும் ஒன்று கூட்டினார் சிவன். அவள் உயிர் பெற்று எழுந்தாள். அங்கத்தில் இருந்து அவள் பிறந்ததால் "அங்காளம்மன்' எனப்பட்டாள்.

ReplyDeleteMy Kuldevi is Sri ANGALA PARMESHWARI Amman and kuldevta is Sri IRULAPPAN SWAMY at VENNANDUR near Attyampatty in Salem district. I visited IRULAPPAN first Time this year.i was not knowing about him. But I think he's a very powerful devta.Here only NAIDU community (All sub sects) worship him. I regret not WORSHIPPED him till today. I live in Navi Mumbai in MAHARASHTRA and my ancestral place is Pachhapatty Gramam near Mavelipalayam rail station on Salem-Erode route. Our Kuldevi is from Shankhgiri.

Delete2. Irulappasamy' s mother is Angalaparameswari. Normally head tonsuring of female children are done in Angalaparameswari temple.
Her story is written above in one of the comments and one post in this blog (first one) is written with picture of idol.
